Call 911

If you notice someone collapse, tap and shout "Are you okay?" If they don't respond, call 911 or have someone else call 911.

Push hard and fast!
​
Push hard and fast in the center of the chest. If the person starts talking or groaning, stop doing chest compressions.

Respond with an AED
​
Have someone grab an AED, turn it on, apply the pads, and follow the prompts.

Tips:

Analyzing Heart Rhythm

When the AED says "Analyzing Heart Rhythm" clear everyone from touching the patient.

Shock or No Shock
-
When the AED says "Shock Advised" be sure to clear everyone from the patient and press the shock button. Be sure to continue chest compressions right after the shock is given.​

The AED may not always shock, if it says "No Shock Advised" continue to do chest compressions right away.
